Grey Bruce Eat and Learn

Grey Bruce Eat & Learn supports 73 student nutrition programs in Grey and Bruce county schools. Eat and Learn schools receives a small provincial grant from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to help purchase the food served at the school breakfast, lunch and snack programs. We actively seek community support to make up the shortfall in the food budget.

Breakfast, lunch and snack programs are an effective way to meet the nutritional needs of children. Communities have an abundance of knowledge, expertise and resources. Grey Bruce Eat & Learn builds on these strengths to help communities develop nutrition programs that are ideally suited to their specific needs. Grey Bruce Eat & Learn doesn’t just feed kids - it nourishes communities!

With the annual grant provided by the United Way we are able to support a local business and purchase Pine River cheese which we deliver to all of our student nutrition programs. Money they save as a result is used to purchase other food items such as fresh fruit and vegetables for the program.
