Catching up on the 'to-do's
I know, my goal of blogging at least twice a week, here, didn’t meet its target last week. I blame the cats. Not that they had anything to do with getting in the way of my blogging, but they have no defence fund.
It’s a busy slide into Oscar weekend as we prepare for the Third Annual Awards Night at the movies. The community is donating to our silent auction, including Leons who have donated a Blue-Ray home theatre system for our Best Picture prize.
Each Awards Night ticket comes with a ballot, and you chose which movie you think will win Best Picture, and we draw from only that box, once the Best Picture is announced! There is no clear front runner this year, so it’s going to be interesting to say the least.
Imagine, a $25 ticket, all the fun of the event AND you walk home with a Blue-Ray home theatre system, not bad for a Sunday evening in February.
Funds from Awards Night go to our Children’s Fund.
Last week I also met with our funded agencies, and some new agencies that are hoping to be United Way funded. We spent 90 minutes just going around the room introducing ourselves and what the agency does. There was a lot of “I need to talk to you”, the beginnings of collaboration and partnerships! It’s why we meet.
For those that hung out to the bitter end, they got a brief look at how we’ve made social media work for us. Good to see some of them on Twitter already.
